Haematology

Currently, haematology has new dimensions thanks to new diagnostic technologies. The new disciplined was created – haemostaseology. Haemostasis has an important role in pathogenesis of various diseases, e.g. cardio-vascular such as angina pectoris, myocardial infarct, brain ischemia, closures of peripheral arterials, deep venous thrombosis, vasculatures, autoimmune, system diseases, nephritic syndrome, acute renal insufficiency, HUS (Haemolytic-Uremic Syndrome), TTP (Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura) etc.

Our Centers of Haemostasis and Thrombosis in Bratislava, Košice, Prešov, Nitra and Martin provide the highly specialized services which have not been represented in that region yet. In that case we speak about specialized laboratory examination, evaluation and conclusions of those examinations, interpretation of results, a diagnostics of congenital and acquired bleeding and thromphofilic states. At this facilities we propose therapeutic procedures, monitor our patients with anticoagulant treatment, we participate in a preoperative preparation of patient with coaulopatia, thrombophilia, a patient with anticoagulant treatment, and provide a consulting activity and clinical care.
We are able to set a diagnosis correctly and quickly by special haemo-coagulant laboratory examinations. By molecule markers of thrombolytic activation, markers of thrombin generation, damnification of vascular endothelium etc. we can set a subclinical diagnosis of thrombo-empholic diseases, thrombophilic conditions, detect pre-thrombotic condition, hyper-coagulant condition with a missing clinic, detect the cause of repeating abortions, the presence of coagulation inhibitors, evaluate the effect of thrombolytic, anticoagulant or antithrombotic treatment.

The role of Haemostasis and Thrombosis Centers is:

  • To diagnose congenital and acquired malfunctions of haemostasis, blooding and thrombophilic condition and malfunctions of the primary haemostasis
  • To ensure the complex treatment, prevention and dispensary care for patients with those diseases
  • To provide a consulting activity for other medical fields
  • To cooperate with other experts in the complex diagnosis and treatment (surgeon, cardiologist, gynecologist, podiatrist, geneticist, orthopedist etc.)
